The Schwan Locke is a relatively new hotel in the center of Munich, not far from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). We stayed here for one night and overall enjoyed our time. The rooms are modern and spacious. They have a kitchen, so self-catering is an option if you stay longer but we didn’t make use of this facility. The furniture and interior decoration are stylish, the bed was comfortable, there was a lovely balcony to the central courtyard, and everything was in good condition. Despite these positive aspects, there are also some downsides, which point to room for improvement. The check-in time (16:00) is too late and the check-out time too early (11:00). We arrived around lunch time and our room wasn’t ready. The lady at the reception said we could have an early check-in at 14:00 but it would cost 30 Euronen. I find this quite an excessive and not very fair policy. We could leave our luggage in the meantime for free but we had to drag it ourselves to the storage room, which is relativley far away from the reception. The shower was leaking and flooded parts of the bathroom. The reception staff also seemed surprised that we only stayed for one night and we felt slightly stigmatized because of this (their language insinuating that this was unusual/strange, when such value judgements should be abstained from with a more service-minded customer orientation). I overheard another guest complain that an email address must be disclosed again at check-in, when it should already be in the system for bookings through third-party platforms such as Expedia. I personally didn’t mind too much but I can see how some people perceive it as cumbersome. Also the breakfast seemed not very good value for money (24€ is a bit much for the type of hotel, even in a high-price city like Munich) and we were glad we didn’t book it. Overall, the experience was still good but definitely not perfect and I would give 3.5 stars in total if I could, but am rounding up due to the good state of the facilities and the nice rooms.

Good Location, Well-Equipped Room, but Disappointing Early Check-In Policy The location of the hotel is great, and the room was clean and well-equipped with everything from an oven to an iron — very convenient for a comfortable stay. However, I was disappointed to be charged an additional €30 simply because I arrived at 10:40 AM, (check-in time is 3:00 PM.) This was the first time I’ve encountered a hotel that charges extra for early check-in in modern history !! It gave me the impression that customer service is not a priority here. Bottom line to be fair, book a room if you are sure you will arrive post 3:00 PM and i am sure they will charge extra for few minutes late check out even if there is no body booking the room as most important for them is to suck your wallet.

Very nice and comfortable apartment. The rooms are spacious and so is the bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped. It is conveniently located 50 meters from a metro station, 5 minutes walking from the Main Train station and 10 minutes walking from Marienplatz. We enjoyed our stay!

The apartment itself was nice; however, we found that charging 10 Euro per day to turn on the air conditioning (on a 360 Euro per night stay) seemed rather cheap and petty. As well, a 300 Euro damage deposit was requested in addition to the total cost of the stay. It was agreed that the deposit would be returned within 7 days of the completion of the stay. We left the apartment immaculate. After 10 days I contacted Werner about the deposit and received no response. After two weeks I threatened legal action and only then was the deposit returned.
