Edited review (original version in 2017, edited version in 2025): Disappointing Experience with Autohaus Scherer VW Service In 2017, I visited Autohaus Scherer in Homburg with my 1998 VW Passat, which had failed the TÜV inspection twice due to visible blue smoke (oil burning) and unstable idle running. Although the car was registered under my wife's name (with Hungarian license plates MB*28*), I personally brought it in and spoke with the staff. I chose this VW-authorized service center because I expected experienced mechanics and a professional approach. Unfortunately, my experience was not what I had hoped for. After a few days, I was told that no issues were found with the car. I paid around 30 EUR for the diagnosis (invoice number: 3791527), but based on the result and how quickly the conclusion was reached, I had doubts about whether a thorough check was carried out. The car later failed the TÜV a third time for the same reasons. During the process, communication was also challenging. Only one staff member spoke fluent English, and I felt that my concerns weren’t taken seriously. At one point, I was advised that the car wouldn’t pass TÜV anyway due to its foreign license plates, and I was encouraged to buy a new car. That suggestion felt dismissive, especially since some customers—whether for financial or environmental reasons—prefer to repair rather than replace older vehicles. My goal in writing this review is to share my personal experience and to help other customers set realistic expectations. While some may have had positive experiences here, mine was unfortunately not one of them. Furthermore, I’ve also noticed that Autohaus Scherer has repeatedly tried to have the original version of this review removed, which raises concerns about how customer feedback is handled.
